PineconeTales ("we", "us", "our") operates the PineconeTales web application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our service.

PineconeTales is a service intended for use by adults (parents, guardians, and caregivers) to create personalized bedtime stories for children. Children do not create accounts or interact with the service directly.

2.Information We Collect

Account Information

●Email address (for account creation and communication)
●Full name (display purposes)
●Password (stored securely, never in plain text)

Story and Character Data

●Story content you create (themes, text, choices)
●Character names, descriptions, and uploaded photos
●AI-generated story text and images

Payment Information

Payment details (credit card numbers, billing addresses) are processed directly by Stripe and are never stored on our servers. We receive only a transaction reference and subscription status.

Automatically Collected Information

●Error and performance data (via Sentry) to improve the service
●Basic usage analytics to understand how features are used

3.How We Use Your Information

●To create and deliver personalized stories
●To generate AI-powered images based on your characters and story content
●To process print orders for physical books
●To manage your subscription and payments
●To send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, order updates)
●To monitor and fix errors in the service
●To improve the service based on usage patterns

4.Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate PineconeTales:

OpenAI—Generates story text and images. Story prompts and character descriptions are sent to OpenAI's API.

Stripe—Processes payments and manages subscriptions. Stripe handles all payment card data directly.

Supabase—Provides our database and authentication infrastructure.

Cloudflare R2—Stores uploaded character photos and AI-generated images securely.

Lulu—Fulfills print orders for physical storybooks. Shipping name and address are shared with Lulu to deliver your order.

Sentry—Collects error reports and performance data to help us fix bugs.

Resend—Sends transactional emails (verification, password reset, order confirmations).

5.Children's Privacy

PineconeTales is designed for use by adults (parents, guardians, caregivers) who create stories for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Character names and photos are provided by the adult account holder. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

6.Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page. When you delete your account:

●Your account and authentication data is permanently removed
●Your stories, characters, and uploaded images are deleted
●Your Stripe subscription is canceled
●This process is irreversible

7.Data Security

We implement security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication with HTTP-only cookies, and row-level security policies on our database. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8.Your Rights

You have the right to:

●Access your personal data (visible in your account)
●Delete your account and all associated data
●Update your account information
●Contact us with questions about your data

9.Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the application. Your continued use of PineconeTales after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
